SYDNEY IT ENTREPRENEUR RAISES $12,000 FOR MANILA ORPHANAGE
CMS IT’s Director Angelo Millena celebrated his 40th birthday by giving back. On the 23rd of December, Angelo Millena’s wife Doreen Millena and parents assisted in organizing the fundraising event with over 120 guests, the chosen charity was the Hospicio de San Jose. Hosted at Lilyfield’s Le Montage reception centre, on the foreshore of Iron Cove Bay, guests were asked not to bring presents for the celebrant but instead to make a donation to the charity in lieu of a gift, and be ready to bid for a swag of ‘prizes’ donated by clients and friends of CMS IT.
The Hospicio de San Jose, an institution caring for the elderly, infirm, and orphaned children, held a special place in the hearts of both Angelo and Doreen. Having visited the orphanage at the Hospicio in 2010, both had been overwhelmed with the delight in the faces of the children who they met and had agreed they would one day return with funds to help the Hospicio continue its valuable work. On January 30, a month after the fundraiser, Angelo Millena fulfilled the promise he had made to the Hospicio two years ago as he and Angelo’s father Moises arrived to personally present the donation to the Daughters of Charity, the religious order which administers the institution.
According to the Daughters of Charity, the funds could not have come at a better time and will go towards some key projects including repairing the damage caused by typhoon ‘Pedring’, which recently struck Metro Manila, as well as the construction of The Sanctuary, a new building that will serve as a refuge for abused and disadvantaged women, some of whom may have young children in their care.

Panti Asuhan Benih Harapan
The Balinese Orphanage, also known as Seeds of Hope Children’s Home, is situated north-west of Denpasar. At the moment 68 children from the age of 10 months to 21 years old are living in this home. Sandra and Tommy, the facilitators, emphasise the importance of education and encourage the children to take part in all positive activities. It is more than just an Orphanage; it really feels more like an extra large family unit. But they cannot do this alone, they need our help. The condition of living is acceptable but they still require ongoing funding to pay for everyday necessities such as food, education, toiletries and medical costs. CMS IT donates second hand computers, monitors and notebooks on a regular basis to help the Panti Asuhan Benih Harapan Orphanage educate the children. We hope to make a difference in the lives of these children.
