Word of mouth to thank for deals in not-for-profit sector.

Sydney-based managed service provider CMS IT has landed a contract with Australian Regional Remote Community Services (ARRCS) in the Northern Territory.

CMS IT will deploy and support the entire IT infrastructure across ARRCS’s 21 remote locations in NT, including Alice Springs, Katherine and Tennant Creek. The company has refreshed server infrastructure, including backup, redundancy, industry-specific application hosting, Office 365 and email. It is providing 24/7 helpdesk support, onsite support and full vendor managed services as part of the deal.

Part of Uniting Care, ARRCS is a not-for-profit providing aged care and community areas, such as the flexible aged care program in NT’s remote Docker River.

“Because it’s so remote, we don’t have all the luxury of logistics we would in Sydney,” said CEO Angelo Millena.

“It’s also a big challenge on resources. It’s not like Sydney… If you’re going to a remote area like Docker River, you can’t just return to get a missing item, you have to have everything with you.”

CMS IT, which was No.10 in the 2011 CRN Fast50 and No.36 in 2012, has won a number of deals with not-for-profit and education, including Greenacres Disability Services, University of Tasmania and Monash University.

“We have a lot of experience with remote deployments and with non-for-profits. When you do a good job for a non-for-profit, it’s a very close community so word spreads around so we’ve become a good fit for them. We’ve also tried to align our business with them since we’ve had more coming on board,” added Millena.
