Ingram Micro Australia Launches Professional and Training Services

Shortly after revealing they were one of the two local distributors awarded distribution rights by Dell to its end user computing portfolio, Ingram Micro Australia has announced that it has launched professional and training services.

ANZ managing director Matt Sanderson said, “Professional services provided will include implementation and project management, lifecycle management, configuration services including IT disposal, plus a wide range of training.” – which will all fall under the IT services bubble.

Most importantly, according to Jonathan Fox, Ingram Micro’s general manager for Advanced Solutions, the IT services would serve only to complement and not compete with their resellers, allowing the “smallest SMB to the largest systems integrator” the opportunity to expand their service portfolios whilst reaping the additional benefit of bolstering profit margins.

He specified that Ingram Micro’s goal is to deliver supplementary IT services which their resellers can incorporate into their own businesses, effectively expanding and enhancing what they’re currently offering.

Fox said that the professional IT services offering is ideal for resellers who “want to bolt it on to their existing portfolio, when they don’t want to invest [in the skill] themselves, have a one-off need, or a regional delivery situation”.

Ingram Micro will bill resellers for the service much the same way as traditional hardware and software.  Additionally, they will also be offering training as a service.  Matt Sanderson said that whilst the education catalogue is still in its finalizing stages, their training IT services will kick off with vendors such as Microsoft and IBM.  For the first few months of the program, Ingram would start with soft skills training, with the possibility of expanding and providing specialist services should a demand for it arises.

This announcement also comes in the heels of Ingram Micro being one of only two local distributors appointed as Microsoft Cloud Solution Providers through which it will also provide IT services to assist their resellers in the migration and support of their Office 365 customers.
